The Dr. Sergei Noskov Memorial Graduate Scholarship will honor the legacy of Sergei Noskov, a renowned and highly respected researcher in the Department of Biological Sciences at the Faculty of Science. Sergei specialized in using computational and theoretical methods to study biochemical and biophysical problems. His academic peers and students admired him for his research contributions, dedication to science, and personal qualities: warmth, generosity, and wisdom. Once established, the scholarship will support graduate students using primarily computational methods to study biological problems at the molecular level.
Please join us in our effort to create the Dr. Sergei Noskov Memorial Graduate Scholarship by raising a minimum of $25,000 by September 2022, which is the minimum amount required to set up a new endowment. An endowment will generate interest every year to support this scholarship in perpetuity, carrying on Sergei's legacy as an exceptional researcher, beloved teacher, and boundless optimist.
If by September 30, 2023, the total received from all donors exceeds $10,000 but does not reach $25,000, the funds will be used to create a new award for a limited number of years. (An example could be an annual scholarship of $2,000 for five years.) As $10,000 is the minimum amount required for a new award, if the received total amount from all donors does not reach $10,000 by September 30, 2023, the University may redesignate the gifts and shall adhere as closely as is reasonably possible to the donors' intent. If such closeness of purpose is not found, the donations will be redirected to an existing graduate scholarship, preferably in biological sciences. Please note the University shall not be required to return any portion of the gifts already paid.
