Donate in support of Sarcoidosis Research
Welcome to the online donation page for “Chad’s Champions” - these are supporters of the Canadian Sarcoidosis Organization that wish to make a contribution in memory of Chad Weisgerber through the Cumming School of Medicine.
Led by the research of Dr. Christopher Hergott, we will improve the diagnosis and treatment of those afflicted with Sarcoidosis.
We are incredibly grateful for your generosity, especially during these unprecedented times. Thank you for sharing in our vision for a better future of health for all.
If you have any questions, please contact the Office of Advancement for the Cumming School of Medicine: Andrea Ostergard, Associate Director of Development E: andrea.ostergard@ucalgary.ca
Chad was an intelligent & vibrant father of two girls. He had degrees in both Science and a Masters in Teaching as well as his certification in Project Management.
One summer Chad got what everyone thought was a bad cold that he just couldn’t shake. After struggling for months and endless tests, he was diagnosed with Pulmonary Sarcoidosis. While trying to get his symptoms under control, Chad continued to degrade to the point where he struggled to walk and talk. At that time it was discovered that the Sarcoidosis was also affecting his brain and he was diagnosed with Neuro-Sarcoidosis.
Chad’s father retired and stayed with him most days so that he wouldn’t struggle alone but within months he degraded and needed to be rushed to Foothills hospital where we lost him to this devastating disease after a lengthy stay in the ICU on May 12, 2012.
Chad opted to allow a brain biopsy before he passed away in the hopes it would help in finding answers for others. Chad will forever be in our hearts and minds and was the basis for founding the Canadian Sarcoidosis Organization here in Canada.
