University of Calgary Pet Memorial

At the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, we recognize the important role that pets play in our lives, and the significance of their loss. Pet Memorial allows veterinarians, pet owners, and loved ones to bring meaning to that loss. It's a unique way to celebrate the life of a pet through supporting the advancement of animal and human health.

You can choose to support either the Companion Animal Health Fund or Equine Health Fund: Support to these funds plays a critical role in advancing our understanding of companion animal and equine health. Through the support of educational, diagnostic, and in-clinic practices, you can directly improve both animal and human health.

The University of Calgary is committed to the highest standards of fiscal responsibility to ensure donor support creates meaningful and lasting impact. Every dollar donated goes directly to the donor’s chosen area, with no administration fees deducted. In 2024–2025, we raised $176 million while keeping our cost to raise a dollar well below the industry standard at $0.10 for every dollar raised.

Gifts received to support these areas may be directed to either endowed or non-endowed initiatives depending on the greatest need. All gifts are accepted in accordance with the University's Gift Acceptance Guidelines, which ensure that the University retains ultimate authority over the use of donated funds and applies them in support of its charitable purposes and approved priorities.

Where a specific designation becomes fully supported, discontinued, or otherwise impractical to fulfill, the University may redirect the gift to a similar purpose or to the area of greatest need, consistent with donor intent and University priorities.
