The Student Advocacy and Wellness Hub
The Student Advocacy and Wellness Hub (SAWH) strives to ensure all Cumming School of Medicine students achieve their full potential. The demands for students are complex and include coping with inflation, caring for family members while in school, and dealing with isolation.
SAWH is a non-judgmental and inclusive student-centred resource. We foster a culture of trust through integrity and confidentiality. SAWH enables students to thrive academically and personally by facilitating connections with a supportive community and responsive resources.
Examples of services the SAW hub provides students include psychological counseling, career coaching, wellness and health promotion programs, academic assistance, and advocacy support.
Data has demonstrated increased SAWH access and need. Since 2018, 78% of the student class has made at least one voluntary appointment the hub.
Your support will go directly towards advancing and advocating for student health and wellness initiatives. Examples of recent activities the hub has undertaken include developing a series of workshops to ensure students are prepared for CaRMS, Forum on Failure panels and wellness workshops.
