In Memory of Larry Day
Award Winning Calgary Media Figure, Larry Day Passed Away at the Foothills Hospital ICU on September 23, 2021.
Larry was a true renaissance man, he wrote, directed, produced, composed and performed music for and acted in hundreds of hours of television and film. But above all, he was a family man, He will live on in the hearts of his wife Kirstie, five children, James Buddy, Charlie, Lundy Geordie and Paul, as well as his three grandchildren, Téa, Jaxon and Griffin.
During his life, Larry was a passionate supporter and deeply involved in the University of Calgary Guyana Program to Advance Cardiac Care. Founded by his dear friends, Dr. Deb Isaac and Dr. Wayne Warnica, it provides diagnosis and treatment to children with critical heart conditions in Guyana. In 2016, Larry helped develop a documentary to inspire ongoing support for the program. In tandem with his belief in education, he was particularly focused on educating caregivers and doctors to create sustainable improvement in access for these children.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to support the Larry Day International Children’s Heart Disease Fund at the Cumming School of Medicine, University of Calgary. Through this legacy fund, UCalgary researchers will carry on the good works and example that Larry displayed in his life.
