Canada’s trade vulnerability did not start with American Tariffs, rather its roots began in a century of trade policy shaped by our history, resource dependence, and reliance on an economic relationship with the United States. As continuing geopolitical disruption exposes the limits of government-led trade agreements and global supply chains, Canadian firms—not policymakers—will ultimately determine how we can successfully navigate a more fractured world.
This talk challenges the conventional approach and explores how firms are addressing the uncertainty head on, regardless of what happens in trade talks and whether a more open, unilateral free-trade strategy could help Canada break the cycle, strengthen competitiveness, and give firms the freedom to build resilience and compete globally.
Enjoy a canapé reception where you will connect with Haskayne academics and industry professionals.
