Funds raised help to advance research regarding mental health supports for people suffering from PTSD.

The after effects of a bear attack in 2017 left Jeremy to overcome physical and psychological challenges, including post-traumatic stress disorder – a mental health condition caused by experiencing or witnessing a traumatic event. Because of the trauma, Jeremy experienced flashbacks, struggled to sleep and engaged in various forms of therapy. Five years after the attack, Jeremy finally experienced a breakthrough in his healing when he tried Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), which allowed him to sleep soundly through the night for the first time since the attack.

As a survivor and mental health advocate, Jeremy aims to support others suffering with PTSD. He actively shares his story across various mediums, including social media, podcasts and in-person events. In the fall of 2022, Jeremy released his memoir MAULED: Lessons Learned from a Grizzly Bear Attack, which details his experience.

Jeremy’s goal is to raise funds to advance research regarding mental health supports for people suffering with PTSD. He seeks to fund research with two specific goals:

Develop best practices to match evidence-based treatments with those who experience PTSD; and
Help PTSD survivors successfully navigate the complex and confusing range of mental health supports made available to them.

Note: If by June 30, 2025, the total received from all donors does not reach the minimum required to create an endowed Chair in PTSD, the funds will be used to create a new student award (for example, if $10,000 is raised, an annual scholarship of $2,000 for five years. If $25,000 is raised an endowed scholarship will be created). Please note the University shall not be required to return any portion of the gifts already made.
