Support the Calgary Diabetes Advocacy Committee

The Calgary Diabetes Advocacy Committee (CDAC) is a community-based participatory research group dedicated to improving the experiences and outcomes of people affected by diabetes and homelessness. Led by Dr. David Campbell, MD, PhD, at the University of Calgary, CDAC brings together University research staff and community-based co-researchers with lived experience of diabetes and homelessness to drive education, awareness, and systemic advocacy in Calgary and beyond.

CDAC is dedicated to:

  • Raising awareness of the realities and challenges of living with diabetes while experiencing homelessness
  • Promoting access to equitable care, education, and resources
  • Creating engaging, community-focused events that inform, inspire, and empower
  • Developing training materials and public education initiatives that promote diabetes management and advocacy

We collaborate with local organizations, healthcare systems, and people with lived experience to drive change that reflects the needs of the diabetes community.

Your contribution helps us build and sustain vital projects, such as:

  • Educational films, including our flagship project, LOW- a powerful, real-life portrayal of the challenges faced by those living with diabetes while navigating the emergency shelter environment
  • Community events, including activity days, that foster diabetes education, peer support, community building, and public awareness
  • Training & resource materials for individuals living with diabetes, caregivers, and professionals
  • The Diabetes Mobile Clinic (DMC), a mobile comprehensive suite of diabetes point-of-care screening, self-management education, and endocrinology care
  • Other priority initiatives identified by the CDAC team that respond to the emerging needs of the community

Whether it's a film that opens minds or an event that improves lives, donations of all sizes directly support CDAC's priorities and fuel meaningful impact.
